What is Balance Beam?
Balance Beam is a continuous correction task. A ball moves along a beam under changing wind, and you must keep it inside a safe zone. Small timely corrections are usually more effective than large alternating inputs.
The important feedback is movement as well as position. A ball still inside the zone may be traveling quickly toward an edge, so waiting for visible danger can make the correction too late.
Rules and controls
- Watch the ball’s location and direction of travel.
- Apply the appropriate correction to oppose drift.
- Ease the correction before overshooting the middle.
- If the ball leaves the safe area, recover rather than continuing the same input.
Use the on-screen balance controls or the displayed left/right keyboard alternatives.
Scoring and rewards
Verified time spent in the balance zone is the credited objective. Time outside the zone and fall recovery already reduce coverage, so there is no additional normalized mistake multiplier for the same lost time.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Changing wind and higher daily difficulty demand more frequent adjustments. The reward benchmark remains the round’s available balance time rather than a passive difficulty bonus.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Build a repeatable approach
Make a small correction while the ball is approaching an edge, not after it has crossed it. Then reassess its velocity before applying more force.
Improve your next attempt
Aim to settle near the middle rather than repeatedly traversing the entire safe zone. Wide oscillations create a sequence of emergency saves.
A worked round
- The ball is right of center and moving farther right.
- Apply a left correction early enough to slow that motion.
- Reduce the correction as the ball returns toward the center so it does not accelerate into the opposite edge.
Common mistakes
- Reacting only to position and ignoring speed.
- Holding a correction after the drift has already reversed.
- Assuming an untouched ball qualifies as active rewarded play.
Questions
Which controls should I use?
Use the on-screen balance controls or the displayed left/right keyboard alternatives.
How should I interpret my result?
The score summarizes this game’s objectives and mistakes. Reward performance is calculated against this game’s own objective benchmark, then scaled by round length. Review the base points and level bonus on your claim receipt.
