What is Bridge Builder?
Construct a supported bridge across four river columns. Three possible rows provide different heights, but only marked support squares can hold a section. You begin at the middle row on the left bank and must reach the highlighted row on the far bank. The order of construction matters because each new section connects to the previous one.
Rules and controls
- Select one supported square in the next unbuilt column, moving strictly from left to right. A section may stay in the same row or rise or fall by one row compared with the last section; the first connects to the middle starting shore. The fourth section must arrive at the marked destination row. Completing all four earns one objective. Undo section removes the last placement without awarding anything.
- Controls respond only during active play. The countdown and the brief change between boards are pauses, not opportunities to submit the next answer early. Touch controls and native Tab/Enter button activation follow the same replay rules.
Use the controls displayed above the playfield. Touch buttons and keyboard shortcuts are shown before the round begins.
Scoring and rewards
The game scoreboard gives 100 for each correct completed bridges objective and subtracts 25 for a recorded mistake, with a minimum displayed score of zero. Only new, accepted objectives count; waiting or repeating completed work does not create achievements.
Reward points use verified performance against this game’s reference pace rather than its raw scoreboard. The reference is: Inspect the supports, then place four connected bridge sections. Full reference performance corresponds to 40 base reward points and 60 XP per minute; the account’s level bonus is applied separately.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 60-second round earns up to 40 base points and 60 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Early boards contain a straightforward supported route. Higher difficulty may add alternative supports that look tempting but cannot reach the requested far-bank row. The intended route is always connected and reachable. Building three sections alone does not count as a finished bridge, and repeatedly undoing and replacing sections cannot farm achievements.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Plan the next move
Look at the destination before placing the first section. Four columns leave limited room to change height, so a support that moves away from the final row may require a correction you cannot make in time.
Check before committing
Plan backward from the far-bank support if a branch is confusing. Identify which row the third section must occupy, then connect that requirement to your current bridge. Use Undo when a chosen branch cannot continue.
A worked example
- Start at row two and suppose the available route is row one, row one, row two, row three.
- Each step changes height by at most one row, so all four sections connect legally.
- If the far-bank marker is row three, placing the final section completes the bridge.
Common mistakes
- You cannot skip a column or place a section on unmarked water.
- The first section still obeys the height rule relative to the middle starting shore.
Questions
Can I undo a legal section?
Yes. Undo removes only the most recently placed section, letting you reconsider a branch without a mistake penalty.
Does each plank earn points?
No. The validated objective is the completed bridge reaching the correct bank row.
