What is Odd One Out?

Odd One Out presents a small group of shapes with one exception. The difference may be easy to see when you compare a particular feature, but looking at every object without a plan wastes the prompt’s limited time.

The quickest reliable approach is to identify the repeated pattern first. Once you know what most cells share, the exceptional cell becomes easier to recognize.

Rules and controls

  1. Compare the visible cells and identify the single different item.
  2. Select that cell once.
  3. Wait for feedback before inspecting the next board.
  4. A new board may use a different arrangement or visual distinction.
Controls

Tap or click the different cell. Standard keyboard focus and activation are supported.

Scoring and rewards

Correct exceptions count as objectives. Wrong selections reduce precision and interrupt the displayed streak. Reward pacing includes the number of cells to inspect and the enforced board transition.

Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.

For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.

How difficulty changes

The search becomes more demanding as daily difficulty rises, with larger or less forgiving boards and shorter response opportunities.

Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.

Strategy

Build a repeatable approach

Compare one feature at a time: outline, orientation, then any internal mark. Jumping between unrelated details makes it harder to recognize the repeated group.

Improve your next attempt

Scan rows in a consistent order when the answer is not obvious. A predictable sweep prevents repeatedly inspecting the same few cells.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

A worked round

  1. Most cells show the same orientation of a shape.
  2. Compare the final row against that repeated orientation.
  3. Select the one cell whose shape breaks the pattern.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing an unusual-looking position rather than a different object.
  • Changing your comparison feature halfway through the board.
  • Double-clicking into the next board before its contents are read.

Questions

Which controls should I use?

Tap or click the different cell. Standard keyboard focus and activation are supported.

How should I interpret my result?

The score summarizes this game’s objectives and mistakes. Reward performance is calculated against this game’s own objective benchmark, then scaled by round length. Review the base points and level bonus on your claim receipt.

Ready to put it into practice?

Try one focused round, then use the result to choose one thing to improve.
