What is Color Clash?
Color Clash creates a conflict between reading and seeing. Each prompt displays a color word in an ink color that may be different from the word’s meaning. Your answer must identify the ink, not read the text.
The response buttons keep stable positions. Learning those positions lets you spend attention on the prompt itself and reduces the extra mental step of searching for a matching label.
Rules and controls
- Inspect the color used to draw the word.
- Select that color from the four answers, even when the word says something different.
- Each answer advances the prompt after a short feedback delay.
- An unanswered prompt expires when its timer runs out.
Use the four answer buttons or keys 1–4 while the game has focus.
Scoring and rewards
Correct answers build the displayed score and streak. Incorrect or expired prompts count as mistakes. Reward performance compares correctly completed prompts and precision against a recognition benchmark for this game.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
The prompt deadline gets shorter with repeated daily play. The task stays the same, but hesitation and reading the distracting word become more costly.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Build a repeatable approach
Silently label the task “ink” before each choice. This small cue redirects attention from the word’s meaning.
Improve your next attempt
Use a consistent mapping between colors and answer keys. Do not start a new answer until the feedback delay has finished.
A worked round
- The word GREEN is drawn in blue ink.
- Ignore the meaning of GREEN and identify blue.
- Press the answer for blue, then wait for the next prompt.
Common mistakes
- Reading the word aloud before checking its ink.
- Continuing a memorized key rhythm after the prompt changes.
- Submitting a second answer during feedback instead of checking the next question.
Questions
Which controls should I use?

How should I interpret my result?
The score summarizes this game’s objectives and mistakes. Reward performance is calculated against this game’s own objective benchmark, then scaled by round length. Review the base points and level bonus on your claim receipt.
