What is Gap Jumper?
A small runner races across floating platforms while gaps slide toward the takeoff marker. The jump follows a fixed arc, so the important decision is when to leave the platform. You must be high enough when the gap reaches the runner, not when you first notice it.
Gap Jumper is a 45-second game built around jumps that clear the approaching gaps. The round keeps running after an error, so use the next opportunity to recover. Your best improvement comes from learning the board rather than pressing the controls faster.
Rules and controls
- Press Space while the stage is focused, or tap Jump. Each press begins one jump attempt for the current gap. The runner rises, reaches the top of the arc, and comes down automatically; holding the button does not extend the jump.
- Watch the striped gap approach the fixed runner line. The blue launch cue marks the useful takeoff interval. A jump pressed far in advance finishes before the gap arrives, while a late jump has not gained enough height.
- Controls are available on the game board as well as the listed keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard controls apply while the game stage is focused; they do not take over account forms or page navigation. During the countdown, watch the starting position and prepare your first move.
Use the controls displayed above the playfield. Touch buttons and keyboard shortcuts are shown before the round begins.
Scoring and rewards
Clearing a gap adds one objective and 120 score. A jump whose arc is too low at the crossing time is a miss, as is a gap that passes without a jump. The animation continues after a fall so the next gap remains playable.
The displayed arcade score describes this game, while reward performance uses gaps cleared against a duration-specific benchmark. Longer rounds have a larger base budget. Mistakes reduce precision, and the level bonus applies afterward. Waiting on a finished opportunity cannot create extra objectives or points.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Later difficulties bring gaps closer together and reduce the acceptable launch interval. The arc remains predictable, rewarding a more precise launch rather than faster repeated tapping.
Difficulty rises with repeated daily attempts, then follows the daily reset. A later difficulty changes the challenge rather than extending the timer. Read the live board again when the pace changes; a memorized button rhythm can stop matching the next opportunity.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Read before acting
Use the gap’s front edge as a visual reference and keep the takeoff marker in view. A consistent landmark is more useful than counting milliseconds in your head.
Recover deliberately
If you fall, release Jump and prepare for the next platform. Trying to jump again during the same gap cannot replace the committed attempt.
A worked Gap Jumper sequence
- A gap approaches from the right. You wait while its leading stripe moves toward the takeoff cue.
- Press Jump as it reaches the cue. At the crossing line the runner is near the top of the arc, clearing the opening.
- For the next gap, repeat the visual alignment rather than pressing again immediately after landing.
Common mistakes
- Jumping as soon as a gap enters the screen starts the arc too early, causing the runner to descend into the opening.
- Waiting until the gap is directly under the runner leaves too little time to rise, even though the button press is registered.
Questions
What exactly counts as a successful objective?
The scorer checks the jump arc against the gap’s actual crossing time. A button press alone is not a cleared gap.
What should I do after a mistake?
The next platform is a fresh attempt. Watch its approach, rebuild your timing, and let the fixed jump arc do the work.
Can I earn a full result by leaving the game open?
No. Gap Jumper credits only jumps that clear the approaching gaps produced by fresh, valid inputs. An idle board may continue its animation, but it does not complete those objectives for you. Practice is available without an account; reward points require signed-in rewarded play and the claim checks.
