What is Grid Memory?

Grid Memory tests recall of a spatial pattern. A collection of highlighted cells is shown briefly and then hidden. Your task is to reconstruct that set of positions, not just remember how many cells were blue.

The board becomes easier to hold in memory when you treat it as a shape: a corner, a line, or a cluster can be remembered as one visual unit.

Rules and controls

  1. Study all highlighted cells during the preview.
  2. Wait until the pattern is hidden and input becomes available.
  3. Select the remembered positions.
  4. A wrong position counts as a mistake; complete the required pattern to move to the next board.
Controls

Tap remembered cells. Keyboard users can focus individual cells and activate them.

Scoring and rewards

Correct remembered cells count as objectives. Wrong cells receive a reduced mistake weight because memory learning is less like a pure recognition tap. The reference includes the enforced preview and board transition time.

Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.

For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.

How difficulty changes

Daily difficulty changes preview timing and pattern complexity. Growing patterns increase the information to retain even if the board’s basic layout remains familiar.

Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.

Strategy

Build a repeatable approach

Look for relationships between cells: adjacent pairs, a diagonal, or an empty gap between two clusters.

Improve your next attempt

Recall the overall shape before selecting its individual cells. This gives you a way to check each tap against a larger plan.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

A worked round

  1. The preview shows two adjacent cells near a corner and one isolated cell.
  2. Remember the corner pair as a small bar and the isolated position as a separate marker.
  3. After the preview fades, select those positions without adding the gap between them.

Common mistakes

  • Remembering only the count and guessing the positions.
  • Beginning to answer before the preview finishes.
  • Filling an imagined symmetrical cell that was never shown.

Questions

Which controls should I use?

Tap remembered cells. Keyboard users can focus individual cells and activate them.

How should I interpret my result?

The score summarizes this game’s objectives and mistakes. Reward performance is calculated against this game’s own objective benchmark, then scaled by round length. Review the base points and level bonus on your claim receipt.

Ready to put it into practice?

Try one focused round, then use the result to choose one thing to improve.
