What is Meteor Guard?
Three ground cannons protect a quiet station from falling meteors. A bolt needs time to travel upward, so the useful launch moment comes before the meteor reaches the station. Match the meteor lane and fire at the intercept cue instead of waiting for impact.
Meteor Guard is a 30-second game built around timed cannon launches that intercept meteors. The round keeps running after an error, so use the next opportunity to recover. Your best improvement comes from learning the board rather than pressing the controls faster.
Rules and controls
- Tap a cannon pad or press 1, 2, or 3 to launch from that lane. One bolt is available for the current meteor. The marked launch cue accounts for projectile travel time; pressing at ground impact is too late.
- The meteor’s trail identifies its lane. A blue crosshair line above the cannons shows the planned meeting area, and the launch signal lights when a newly fired bolt can reach that meeting. A resolved meteor cannot be shot again.
- Controls are available on the game board as well as the listed keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard controls apply while the game stage is focused; they do not take over account forms or page navigation. During the countdown, watch the starting position and prepare your first move.
Use the controls displayed above the playfield. Touch buttons and keyboard shortcuts are shown before the round begins.
Scoring and rewards
A correctly timed launch from the matching cannon adds one intercept and 120 score. A wrong cannon, an early or late launch, or a meteor left unchallenged records a miss. Decorative explosions do not create extra reward objectives.
The displayed arcade score describes this game, while reward performance uses meteors intercepted against a duration-specific benchmark. Longer rounds have a larger base budget. Mistakes reduce precision, and the level bonus applies afterward. Waiting on a finished opportunity cannot create extra objectives or points.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 30-second round earns up to 20 base points and 30 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Higher difficulties reduce the interval between meteors and narrow the valid launch window. Cannon travel time remains part of the cue, so timing should follow the signal rather than an improvised last-second reaction.
Difficulty rises with repeated daily attempts, then follows the daily reset. A later difficulty changes the challenge rather than extending the timer. Read the live board again when the pace changes; a memorized button rhythm can stop matching the next opportunity.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Read before acting
Choose the cannon from the incoming trail while waiting for the launch cue. That leaves only the timing decision when the signal lights.
Recover deliberately
After a failed intercept, release the controls and identify the next trail. Firing immediately to compensate usually wastes the next meteor’s bolt too early.
A worked Meteor Guard sequence
- A meteor falls in the center lane. You prepare cannon 2 while watching the blue launch marker.
- When the cue lights, press 2 once. The bolt rises and meets the meteor above the station.
- The next trail is left of center. Prepare cannon 1, then wait for that meteor’s separate launch cue.
Common mistakes
- Waiting until the meteor reaches the station leaves no travel time for the bolt to intercept it.
- Firing the cannon nearest the previous explosion can select the wrong lane for the new incoming meteor.
Questions
What exactly counts as a successful objective?
An intercept counts when the cannon lane matches and its launch occurs inside the current meteor’s travel-adjusted launch window.
What should I do after a mistake?
The next meteor starts a fresh intercept chance. Read its lane first, then wait for the blue launch cue before firing.
Can I earn a full result by leaving the game open?
No. Meteor Guard credits only timed cannon launches that intercept meteors produced by fresh, valid inputs. An idle board may continue its animation, but it does not complete those objectives for you. Practice is available without an account; reward points require signed-in rewarded play and the claim checks.
