What is Portal Dash?
Three linked portals form a short escape route. First, collect the glowing key from its entrance. Then follow that entrance’s link to the correct exit. A route needs both decisions in order, making this a quick navigation sequence rather than a single color match.
Portal Dash is a 45-second game built around complete key-and-exit portal routes. The round keeps running after an error, so use the next opportunity to recover. Your best improvement comes from learning the board rather than pressing the controls faster.
Rules and controls
- Tap an entrance portal or press 1, 2, or 3 to choose the key entrance. Once the key is taken, the board changes to exits. Choose the exit connected to that entrance by the displayed link pattern.
- The active key is shown by a bright diamond over one entrance. The link arrows show a cyclic shift between entrances and exits. A wrong entrance or a wrong exit ends that route, while a correct entrance alone is not yet a completed objective.
- Controls are available on the game board as well as the listed keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard controls apply while the game stage is focused; they do not take over account forms or page navigation. During the countdown, watch the starting position and prepare your first move.
Use the controls displayed above the playfield. Touch buttons and keyboard shortcuts are shown before the round begins.
Scoring and rewards
Only a correct entrance followed by its connected exit adds one route and 120 score. Either wrong decision records a miss. A route left unfinished at the end of its interval also counts as a missed route; collecting the key alone earns no reward hit.
The displayed arcade score describes this game, while reward performance uses complete key-and-exit routes against a duration-specific benchmark. Longer rounds have a larger base budget. Mistakes reduce precision, and the level bonus applies afterward. Waiting on a finished opportunity cannot create extra objectives or points.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 45-second round earns up to 30 base points and 45 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Higher difficulty shortens the route interval. The link shift is still shown clearly, but you must read it and complete both inputs with less hesitation.
Difficulty rises with repeated daily attempts, then follows the daily reset. A later difficulty changes the challenge rather than extending the timer. Read the live board again when the pace changes; a memorized button rhythm can stop matching the next opportunity.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Read before acting
Identify the key entrance first, then trace its link before making the first selection. Preparing the exit decision prevents a rushed guess after the board changes.
Recover deliberately
After an incorrect route, wait for the new key and link pattern. Reusing the previous exit can be wrong even when the key returns to the same entrance.
A worked Portal Dash sequence
- The key is above entrance 2, and the arrows shift every entrance one place to the right. Select 2.
- The board switches to exits. Entrance 2 links to exit 3, so choose 3 to complete the escape.
- On the next route, read the new key and shift again; do not assume the connection is unchanged.
Common mistakes
- Selecting any entrance and then the visually brightest exit ignores the requirement to take the key first.
- Stopping after the first correct input leaves the route incomplete, so it cannot count as a successful escape.
Questions
What exactly counts as a successful objective?
A route counts after both the key entrance and its linked exit are selected correctly within the same interval.
What should I do after a mistake?
A failed route is resolved. Read the next key marker and the newly displayed links before starting another two-step sequence.
Can I earn a full result by leaving the game open?
No. Portal Dash credits only complete key-and-exit portal routes produced by fresh, valid inputs. An idle board may continue its animation, but it does not complete those objectives for you. Practice is available without an account; reward points require signed-in rewarded play and the claim checks.
