What is Word Builder?
A short definition describes a word hidden in a shuffled rack of letter tiles. Build the answer from left to right by selecting its letters in order. The rack contains exactly the letters you need, including separate physical tiles for repeated letters. The clue supplies meaning; the rack supplies the spelling material.
Rules and controls
- Tap an unused tile matching the next missing letter. A correct placement fills one slot and earns one objective. A wrong tile records a mistake but does not consume that tile or erase correctly placed letters. Complete every slot to receive a new clue and rack. A particular tile can be used only once on its board.
- Controls respond only during active play. The countdown and the brief change between boards are pauses, not opportunities to submit the next answer early. Touch controls and native Tab/Enter button activation follow the same replay rules.
Use the controls displayed above the playfield. Touch buttons and keyboard shortcuts are shown before the round begins.
Scoring and rewards
The game scoreboard gives 100 for each correct letters placed objective and subtracts 25 for a recorded mistake, with a minimum displayed score of zero. Only new, accepted objectives count; waiting or repeating completed work does not create achievements.
Reward points use verified performance against this game’s reference pace rather than its raw scoreboard. The reference is: Inspect the clue, then select a correct letter every 500 milliseconds. Full reference performance corresponds to 40 base reward points and 60 XP per minute; the account’s level bonus is applied separately.
Points and XP scale with objective performance, precision, and round length. At full reward performance, a 60-second round earns up to 40 base points and 60 XP. Each level gained adds a 0.1% point bonus. Guest practice has no reward balance.
For eligible rewarded rounds, points remain pending until the sponsored claim’s 12 seconds of focused time and fresh hCaptcha are complete. No ad click or purchase is required.
How difficulty changes
Early clues use short familiar words, while later difficulty introduces longer answers and more repeated letters. Longer words require more placements, but the reward benchmark also accounts for their letter count. The game does not turn an eight-letter answer into an automatic bonus unrelated to time or accuracy.
Difficulty increases after every three starts of this game during a UTC day, up to level 10, and resets at 00:00 UTC. Your player level and its point bonus are separate from the game’s daily difficulty.
Strategy
Plan the next move
Solve the definition before placing several letters. A few correct opening letters can help confirm the answer, but guessing every remaining tile repeatedly lowers precision and wastes the short round.
Check before committing
Check duplicates carefully. If a word contains two copies of a letter, each copy has its own tile. Once one copy has been placed, choose the other tile when that letter is needed again.
A worked example
- A clue says “A bright point in the night sky,” and the rack reads R, S, T, A.
- Think of STAR before clicking. Place S, then T, then A, then R.
- All four placements count once, and completing the final slot replaces the rack with a fresh word.
Common mistakes
- A tile cannot be tapped twice to create two letters. Previously used tiles are disabled.
- Do not confuse a plausible meaning with the exact spelling available in the rack; check both clues together.
Questions
Can I rearrange letters already placed?
Correct letters are locked into their proper positions. A wrong selection leaves your progress intact, so a backspace action is unnecessary.
Do partial words count?
Correctly placed letters are validated objectives even if the overall timer ends before the last slot is filled.
